A Haysi man is safe after being reported missing by a relative Sunday. Kenneth Lee Yates, 47, was reported missing Sunday by one of his sisters. Police learned Monday that Yates had been staying with another sister in Buchanan County.
Yates last spoke with the sister who reported him missing on Sept. 8. He suffers from a health condition that requires medication, and police did not believe Yates had his medication with him when he went missing. When his sister didn’t hear from him for several days, she contacted police.
Dickenson County Sheriff’s Investigator John Hall said a press release, along with Yates’ picture, was distributed to local media sources. When television station WCYB aired a segment about the missing man during a noon news broadcast, his sister in Buchanan County contacted authorities.
The woman told police that Yates had called her complaining of illness, so she picked him up and took him to her home to care for him.
