Any person whose interests are or may be adversely affected by the Renewal application, or an officer, or head of any federal, state, or local government agency or authority may within 30 days of March 13, 2013 submit written comments or objections to the Division of Mined Land Reclamation concerning the renewal application; and may also request, in writing, that the Division hold an Informal Conference concerning the application. Paramont Coal Company Virginia, LLC of 5703 Crutchfield Dr., Norton, Virginia 24273 is applying to the Virginia Division of Mined Land Reclamation for a revision to change the post-mining land use on part of the permit from unmanaged forestry to commercial. The site (Deep Mine No. 25) is located on Rt. 83 near Baden approx. 3 miles southwest of Clintwood on Georges Fork within the Jenkins East USGS quadrangle.

U. S. OFFICE OF SURFACE MINING RECLAMATION AND ENFORCEMENT

BIG STONE GAP, VIRGINIA

OSM, in collaboration with each state to the extent possible, develops a state-specific Performance Agreement/Evaluation Plan tailored to the unique conditions of each state program. Performance Agreements/ Evaluation Plans between OSM and the states establish how oversight is conducted during each evaluation year. OSM’s Knoxville Field Office/Big Stone Gap Area Office will soon begin drafting the annual Performance Agreement/ Evaluation Plan with Virginia for OSM’s Evaluation Year 2014 that begins on July 1, 2013. As a part of that process, we welcome input from interested parties to comment on oversight and provide suggestions for potential oversight evaluation topics, including the opportunity for discussion with our office. For us to consider your comments and suggestions, we must receive them by March 30, 2013.
