Spearhead Trails is seeking candidates for three new positions
SOUTHWEST REGIONAL RECREATION AUTHORITY also known as Spearhead Trails is seeking candidates for three new positions including: 2 Rangers/Equipment Operators and 1 Nonmotorized Trail Division Manager/ Engineer. These positions are being funded with a grant for the Appalachian Regional Commission for 2 years but will remain permanent positions within the organization. Spearhead Trails is a Drug Free Work force. Candidates must reside in the 7 Coalfield Counties of Virginia or be willing to relocate within 6 months. These counties include Scott, Wise, City of Norton, Lee, Buchanan, Dickenson, and Tazewell Counties. Interested candidates should email

Those interested in our Ranger Positions should be able to operate tractors, skids steers, dozers, and excavators and have a knowledge of trail construction and maintenance and willing to get armed and unarmed security training. One position will work primarily in the Russell County/ Scott, and Wise County area while the other position will work in the Tazewell/ Dickenson, and Buchanan County area. The starting pay for these positions is $29,000 per year. Those interested in the Nonmotorized Trail Division Manager/ Engineer should have a 4- year degree in Civil Engineering and familiar with trail design and regulations. The starting pay for this position is $60,000 per year. All positions include state retirement plans and a competitive benefits package.
