TEDDY LEE POWERS

October 19, 2020

Teddy Lee Powers, 51, of Pound, entered peacefully into eternity Saturday October 17, 2020 from his residence on Cumbo Hill after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Teddy was a Christian of the Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Although Teddy was a man of physical stature he always had a boyish grin on his face and was really a gentle soul. He was a former coal miner with over 32 years of experience. He worked hard and believed in doing so to provide for his family. He loved deer and coon hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was an avid horseman and enjoyed trail riding, camping with his horse riding family and going to horseshows.

Teddy was “Bubbo” to so many children who all hope to be as brave and strong as their hero.

Teddy was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Lou Powers; his maternal grandparents Clyde and Elizabeth Owens; and his paternal grandparents, James Luther and Celesta Hamilton Powers.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 28 years and the love of his life Melissa (Meade) Powers of Pound; his son and best friend, Isaac Powers of Pound; his father, William Pig Power of Pound; his sister, Regina Adkins and husband Greg of Kingsport, TN; his brother, Tony Powers and wife Tina of Pound; nephews, Brandon Powers, Devin Adkins and Dawson Meade; a special niece, Haley Meade; great nephews, Gideon Adkins, Toby Adkins and Witten Mack Edwards; great nieces, Addyson Adkins and Ellie Edwards; mother and father- in- law, Jeff and Carolyn Meade of Pound; brother-in- law, Jeff (Bubby) Meade and wife Dana of Pound; his many coworkers and mining family; his hunting and horse riding friends and so many other friends from around the world that Teddy made in his short time here on earth.

Special thanks to Teddy’s lifelong friend, Sam Mullins for taking him on his last horse ride to his final resting place. I’m sure he is smiling down from Heaven.
