The George Washington & Jefferson National Forests is collecting public feedback on proposed new and increased fees at select developed recreation sites. 

These fee increases will allow the Forests to maintain the sites to the level and quality the public needs. Most recreation fees remain on the Forest to operate, maintain and improve the facilities and programs. Forest recreation areas offer unique experiences for forest visitors that boost local economies and are not meant to compete with or undercut private businesses.  The proposed fee changes will also help the recreation sites be more financially sustainable. 

Public comments will be accepted until October 31, 2023. Comments will be accepted in the following ways:
