RITA JANE FUNK MOORE

April 09, 2020

Rita Jane Funk Moore passed away peacefully on the morning of April 6, 2020, after battling many health issues for the past ten years.

Rita was born in Coeburn, Virginia, and was living in Piney Flats, Tennessee, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Hoover and Avia Amburgey Funk.

Rita was blessed to marry the love of her life, Steven Tate Moore, and they were to celebrate 49 years together in June. She was employed as a Physical Education teacher and a Registered Nurse, but, most importantly she was a mother and a homemaker. Rita had a profound passion for animals and shared a beautiful life with her family and pets in the coalfields of Coeburn, Virginia. If you were blessed to be a friend or relative of Rita’s, she loved you fiercely.

Those left to cherish Rita’s memory include her loving husband, Steven T. Moore; daughters Stephanie Moore-Meade and her husband, Chuck; Amanda Jane Darden and her husband, Gib; her five grandchildren, whom she adored, Maggie Darden (beautiful ballerina), Fisher Darden (b-ball superstar), Rachel Meade (singer/actor), Gus Darden (b-ball of any kind and all-things extraordinaire), and Charley Meade (equestrian/runner). Rita is rejoicing in Heaven with her Mother and is safe in the arms of Jesus.

The family will honor Rita’s life during a private graveside service on Good Friday, April 10, 2020, at Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood, Virginia, with her brother-in-law, Pastor Randy Moore, officiating.
