TAMMY STURGILL

Tammy Sturgill, 57, went to meet her Lord and Savior Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at her residence in Norton.

She was a member of the Freedom of Worship Church where she served as leader of the Women’s Ministries and was an evangelist. Tammy was an RN having worked for over 30 years in her career at several hospitals in the area and later retired from the Norton City School System as a school nurse at Norton Elementary and Middle School in which she enjoyed very much. She was an avid runner and enjoyed traveling and camping. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved her two dogs, Spot and KC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Gene Stidham and Dorothy Davis Stidham and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reverend Glen H. Sturgill and Bessie Jewell Sturgill.

Tammy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of almost 40 years, Tim L. Sturgill of Norton; a daughter, Nikki McElroy and her husband Cody of Norton; a son, Colby Sturgill of Norton; her grandchildren, Kaenan, Owen, Addi, Silas, Lila and Rose; her sisters, Debby Diskin and her husband Chris of Fredericksburg, Va. and Becky Leonard of Norton; her brothers, Donnie Stidham and his wife Susie, Randy Stidham and his wife Vicky and Toby Stidham and his wife Cindy, all of Norton; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Faye and Robert Fultz of Norton, Kenneth and Phyllis Sturgill of Big Stone Gap, Linda and Bud Freeman of Wise, Gayle and Curtis McKeithan of Norton, David and Wanda Sturgill of Dandridge, TN. and Sid and Dr. Tom Renfro of Coeburn; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the Freedom of Worship Church, 5456 Thacker’s Branch Road, Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Robert Fultz Jr., Dr. Tom Renfro and Kenneth Sturgill officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at White Oak Gap Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the church by 10:30 a.m. to travel in procession to the cemetery.
