REV. RICHARD TYRONE STAPLETON

Rev. Richard Tyrone Stapleton, 82, of Salisbury, Missouri died Friday, January 8, 2021 at University Hospital in Columbia. 

Richard was born February 2, 1938 in Pound, Virginia the son of Chester Dean and Icy (Ludwick) Stapleton. He married Betty G. Greene.

Richard was a graduate of Pound High School. He retired from the mining division at Associated Electric, he also had been president of Sharpless Coal Company. Richard was a member of the Pleasant Woods Baptist Church, and a retired minister. He was a member of the Mason’s.

Richard is survived by his wife Betty of the home, children Ricky (Virginia) Stapleton of Salisbury, MO, Debbie (John) Fitzwater of Salisbury, MO, Abby Stapleton of Salisbury, MO, Chris (Jackie) Stapleton of Choudrant, Louisiana, and Scotty (Kathy) Stapleton of Salisbury, MO, brothers John Stapleton, Glen Stapleton, Dane Stapleton, sisters Mona England, Becky Hash, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son and daughter-in-law James and Gwen Stapleton, granddaughter Melissa Stapleton, grandson Adam Stapleton, and sister Jimmie Ann Beverly.

Visitation is Tuesday, January 12 at noon until 1 p.m. with services following at 1 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury with burial in Eastlawn Memory Garden in Salisbury, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Woods Baptist Church.
