DORLUS ROBERTS

Mrs. Dorlus Roberts, 89, of Pound entered peacefully into eternity Saturday February 20, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Dorlus was a born again Christian and a long-time member of Martha’s Chapel Church. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren who would often spend a week at a time with her. Dorlus enjoyed cooking, traveling and attending church.

Dorlus was preceded in death by her parents James and Nellie (Short) Bowman; her husband Preston Roberts: her sisters Lola

Gilley, Ollie Boggs, Ruby Addington, Beulah Phillips and Glenita Bowman; and her brothers Franklin Bowman, Essie Bowman and Odus Bowman.

Survivors include her daughters Patricia Sturgill and husband Larry of Pound and Darlene Bowman and husband Ronnie of Clintwood; her son Greg Roberts and wife Shelby of Wise; grandchildren Josh Sturgill and wife Alison of St Paul, Matt Sturgill of Pound Sarah Rose and husband Garrett of Pound and Lucas Roberts of Kingsport, TN; great-grandchildren Elijah Sturgill, Isaiah Sturgill, Preston Rose and Grayson Rose; sister Nola Carter of Pound; brother Garry Bowman and wife Jane of Ocala, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend Tammy Sturgill; and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services were conducted at 7 pm Monday, February 22 in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Danny Mullins officiating. The family received friends from 5 pm until time of services.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, February 23 at Dewey Memorial Cemetery in Pound where Dorlus will be laid to rest beside her husband Preston. Larry Sturgill, Scott Sturgill. Josh Sturgill, Matt Sturgill, Garrett Rose and Charlie Mullins will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at Baker Funeral Home by 10 am to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.
