MARY ALTA BOLLING

July 22, 2021

Our beloved mother, Mary Alta Bolling, was called home on Friday, July 16, 2021.

She was a woman of deep faith and devotion which helped her face her final days with strength and courage; for she was ready to be with the Lord. She spent 97 wonderful and fulfilling years on this earth as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a friend and a sister to her church family. She was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband, Kenneth Bolling. They were married 47 years after she waited four long years for him to come home after the war. She was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynette and Cecil Barker; as well as her grandsons, Nathaniel P. Barker and Benjamin Matthew Sturgill.
She is survived by her children, Linda Boggs and husband, Vernon; Aleta Sturgill and husband, Glen; Kenneth Bolling Jr. and wife, Marla; Norman Bolling and wife Sandy. She is also survived seven grandchildren, Glendon Sturgill and wife, Cari; Jesse Barker; Benjamin Bolling; Joshua Bolling and wife, Jessica; Whitney Begley and husband Patrick; Jaret Bolling and wife, Nicole; and Erik Bolling and wife, Katie. Most of all, her greatest pride are her great-grandchildren who loved and adored her: Halie and Kylie Sturgill; Clark, Claire, Easton, Drake and Oliver Bolling; Averleigh and Ian Begley; along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by all who loved her and whose lives she touched in so many ways.

Funeral services were conducted at 7 pm Tuesday July 20, in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jimmy Slemp officiating. The family received friends from 5 pm until time of services. Graveside committal services were conducted at 11 am Wednesday July 21 at the Bolling/Sturgill Cemetery in the Flat Gap section of Pound, where her grandsons served as pallbearers.

Baker Funeral Home-Pound is serving the family of Mrs. Mary Alta Bolling.
