EDWARD LEWIS ‘EDDIEMAC’ MCCOWAN SR.
Edward Lewis McCowan Sr. ”Eddiemac” age 56, of Coeburn, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN.
Edward McCowan was a U.S. Army veteran, a coal miner and a welder. These were all titles he proudly held, however, his favorite title was “Papaw”. He was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and finding peace in the woods.
He is preceded in death by his father Bobby Joe McCowan of Castlewood, mother Clara Ann McCowan of Coeburn.
He is survived by his children; his sons Mitchell McCowan of Wise, Edward McCowan Jr. of Big Stone Gap; his daughter Savannah McCowan of Big Stone Gap; his grandchildren Sophia McCowan, Mazalynn McCowan, Grayson Hobbs, Aria Burton; his brothers Bobby Mccowan of Coeburn Va. Chad Mccowan of Castlewood; his sisters Katie Meade of Coeburn, Judy Kilgore of Coeburn, Phyllis Burke, Donna McCowan of Coeburn and Francis Moore of Coeburn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews all of which he loved.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 5, at the Estes Funeral Home chapel, Coeburn with Pastor Ronnie Collins Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the Rose Cemetery in Dickenson County.
