JOAN H. BENTLEY

Joan H. Bentley, 86, of Pound, stepped into eternity Tuesday August 10, 2021 from her residence. Her loving family was at her side.

   Joan was a baptized Christian. She was born in New Rochelle, NY and raised in Port Orange, FL. She attended Tulane University in New Orleans. LA and had lived in Pound for over 60 years.

Joan was a straight shooter and spoke her mind. But deep down she was very kind hearted. She loved her cats and loved Garfield. Joan always remembered special events in the lives of her family and friends. She was a diehard fan of The Young and The Restless, watching  it from the very beginning. One of her favorite sayings was  “Love you to the moon and back”. Joan loved canning and preserving fruits and vegetables and giving them to family and friends and loved catfish dinners. 

Joan was preceded in death by her parents Dr. David and Florence (Briscoe) Hartman; her husband James V. Bentley; her daughter Rosemary Bentley; and her son David “Lightnin” Bentley, and her brother Donald Hartman.

Survivors include her daughters Pat Grant and husband Bill of Wise, Donna Clendenin and husband Randal of Kingsport, TN, Cheryl Trudeau and husband Vinny of Lawrenceville, GA, and Paige Bentley and husband Chad Thomas- of Louisville, KY; daughter-in-law Sondra Bentley of Pound; grandchildren Tristian Bentley, Danielle Stallard and husband Alex, Michelle Bentley ,Rachel Hamilton and husband Will and Sarah Bolling and husband Justin; great-grandchildren Hayden Bolling, Isabella Bolling, Julia Bolling, Lauren Bolling and Wyatt Matthew Stallard;  several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of  friends and loved ones; and her cat Tommy.

Funeral services will be conducted at  7 pm Friday August 13, in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Randy Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until time of services.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday August 14, 2021 at the Bentley Family Cemetery in Pound, where Randal Clendenin, Vinny Trudeau, Tristian Bentley,  Alex Stallard and Jeremy Sartin will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at Baker Funeral Home by 10:00 am to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the animal humane society or your local animal shelter.
