FLOYD MICHAEL COMBS
Floyd Michael “Mike” Combs, 70, of Pound, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 19, 2021 from Whitesburg ARH - Whitesburg, KY. His loving wife Sheila was by his bedside.
Mike was a Christian of the Baptist faith. He had worked as a Quality Control Manager for Hobart Manufacturing Company, the Wise County Sherriff Department as a transport officer and enjoyed selling cars in between. He was a 27 year member of Pound Masonic Lodge # 59 A.F. & A.M. where he served as Master several terms and a 25 year member of Craig Royal Arch Chapter 30. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. Mike was a volunteer for the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) in Wise County to help children and was one of the driving forces behind the Pound Masonic Lodge Community Thanksgiving Dinner. That service led to providing Thanksgiving dinner at the Da Vita Dialysis Center. He was an excellent marksman who loved shooting guns, going turkey hunting and fishing in Michigan with his family. He thoroughly enjoyed long peaceful rides on his motorcycle. But being “Pap” to his grandson Conner was the highlight of his life. Mike loved doing things with Conner and cherished the time he had with him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Recia (Gilley) Combs; a sister, Patricia Ann Combs; a half-brother, Ed Combs, Jr. and niece, Sharlee Wright.
Mike leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Sheila Cox Combs-Pound; a daughter, Nicole Suzanne Combs-Hindman, KY; a grandson and the light of Pap’s life, Justin Conner Michael Cook and his father Matt Cook - Poca, WV; a brother, Kenneth Combs and wife Debra-Isom, KY; close friend and brother-in-law Jim Cox and wife Susan-Wise; special friends, Rueben Bolling and Eddie Roop both of Pound, VA; all his Masonic brothers; and numerous friends and loved ones.
