BARBARA HOWELL BAKER

Barbara Howell Baker, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center with her loving husband and family by her side.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Barbara studied nursing at Mountain Empire Community College and Medical College of Virginia. She was a Registered Nurse where she worked at Wise ARH and retired from Norton Community Hospital as a Night Shift Supervisor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Kelson Stallard, Sr. and Helen Colyer Stallard and her first husband, Ronald Howell, Sr.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Larry Edward Baker; children, Kathy Brooks and husband Dale of Wise, VA, Ronald (Doc) Howell and wife Lea Ann of Norton, VA, Mark Howell of Norton, VA, Dr. Jessica Baker and husband Dave Schaller of Langhorne, PA and Shannon Baker and wife Priya, of Langhorne, PA; brothers, Charles K. Stallard, Jr. and wife Loretta of Alton, VA, John Stallard and wife Janice of Wise, VA, Thomas Stallard and wife Irina of Wise, VA; Eleven grandchildren and one special granddaughter, Lauren Brooks and three great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Leda Dingus; special friends, Sandra Beverly, Ellie Castle, Sharon Stanley, Linda Wampler and Andrea Wampler; a beloved cat, Popcorn and a host of family and friends.

At Barbara’s request, all services will be private. Rev. Billy Hibbitts will be conducting the private service. Burial will be at Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA.

Because Barbara was an advocate of animal rescue, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to PAWS of SWVA, Inc., PO Box 576, Coeburn, VA 24230.
