TABATHA XAN TOMPA

January 23, 2023

Tabatha Xan Tompa, 53, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday afternoon January 17, 2023, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia with her fiancé, Randy H. Lane holding her hand and forever by her side.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Booth Tompa; father, Frank Tompa, Jr.; maternal grandparents, William M. Booth and Hazel Maples; paternal grandparents, Frank Sr. and Rose Deskins Tompa.

Tabby was the only child of Frank and Delores, who adored their baby girl as she was the center of their lives, hearts, and the Banner/Coeburn community. A 1987 graduate of Coeburn High School, she was born with a congenital heart defect. By the age of nine years old, she had three open heart surgeries, and later on, she survived many other healthcare challenges, none of which defined her. Although limited, she lived life full and free. Her tenacity and zeal for life was extraordinary as well as her bubbling personality and flamboyant flair for fashion, big hair, makeup, and accessories. If you ever met her, you NEVER forgot her nor did she forget you. She loved everyone and enjoyed talking! She loved celebrating every occasion in which she was always the social life of any and every event.

Together Tabby and Randy enjoyed traveling, including beach trips and cruises, movies, and concerts. Together they shared a love for fine dining, good food, and weekly standing dinner engagements with friends, Jeffrey and Chantay Proulex. She was a rare jewel, uniquely formed and designed by her creator who called her his own. The mold was broken the day she was created.

She is survived by her fiancé of thirty-three years, Randy H. Lane of Coeburn, Virginia; special close cousins, Margaret Ann Steffey and Karen Clay, and their families; lifelong friends who were like brothers, Jeffrey Proulex and wife, Chantay, Brian Markham, and Billy Joe Markham; special loved ones whom she shared with their parents and thought of as her own, Lara Kennedy and Jarred Bise; special niece, Grayson Proulex, whom she loved and adored and shared a special bond with; her beloved feline pets, Sunni, Oscar, and Casper; and a host of neighbors, friends, and family.
