IMOGENE “JEAN” COX-VICE
Imogene “Jean” Cox-Vice, loving mother, grandmother and wife was granted her heart’s desire and entered into the arms of Jesus on January 28, 2023, at the age of 88, from Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA with her loving family by her side.
Jean lived in Pound, VA for the first 66 years of her life and spent the last 22 years splitting her time between South Holston Lake in Bristol, TN, Somerset, KY and Lake Wales, FL.
She was a wonderful mother and loving wife who was always there when her children or family needed her. After moving to Bristol you would often find Jean mowing in the campground, volunteering and playing games at numerous nursing homes, flat-foot dancing or just enjoying lake life. She was a well-loved member of the communities in Tennessee, Kentucky and Florida. Family and friends loved her cooking, her beautiful crocheting, and most of all her laughter and spunk. She loved her crossword puzzles and never hesitated to prove to family members she could still beat them at Scrabble. Jean loved life and lived it to its fullest.
Jean was a member of the Pound Chapter 67 of the Eastern Star and of the Baptist faith, attending First Baptist Church of Pound, VA for over 30 years and later Golf View Baptist Church in Lake Wales, FL and church services at Peace Lakeview Campground in Bristol, TN.
Along with her Parents, Lonnie Sturgill and Edna Sturgill Tate, she is preceded in death by her late husband, Leon Cox, sister, Rita Addington and daughter, Marguerite Faye Cox Kiser.
Surviving are her husband, Roy Vice; Son, Scotty Cox of Pound, VA; Daughters: Vivian Cox Collier of Pound, VA, Sue (Bill) Mullins of Bristol, VA; stepdaughter, Valerie Vice of Versailles, KY; Son-in-law, Lawrence Kiser; Grandchildren: Heather Franklin, Holly Collier, Briana Mullins, Kelli Stevens, and Karla Palmore; Great-Grandchildren: Tristan Craiger, Zoey Surratt, Lauren Franklin, Jaylee & Logan Stevens; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Combs-Hess Funeral Service Chapel in Lebanon, VA with the Rev. Don Zampogna officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., prior to the service. Gravesite committal services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023 in the Cox Family Cemetery, Whispering Hills Road, Pound, VA. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 a.m. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

A special thanks to Dr. L Crisp and the nursing staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA, and in particular to Nursing assistant, Hattie Jones, whom Jean called ‘Ms. Happy’. Thank you for loving our mother and taking such excellent care of her.
