RICHARD AUGUSTUS BAKER

Richard Augustus Baker, 95. On 14 April 2023 Richard Augustus Baker, 95, stepped out into eternity. Richard, who had made his home in Knoxville, TN for almost 70 years, was a patient at Tennova North at the time of his death.

Richard was a Deacon at Beaver Dam Baptist Church having been a member for 55 years; he taught Sunday School for 52 of those years. He served in the US Army from 1946 to 1947 after which he attended VPI. He began his career as a salesman in the late 1950s with VitaCraft before moving to medical products. He received the President's Award from Brunswick in 1977.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Margie (Lambert) Baker; five brothers, David, Ewell, Eugene, Ewing, and Hubert; one sister, Mary; and several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Margaret Ann; 1 brother, Bobby of Purcellville, VA; 2 sisters-in-law, Rose Bryant of Norfolk VA and Charlotte Baker of Aiken SC; brother-in-law, Henry Watkins of Columbus OH; daughter, Susan (John) Farmer; grandson, Thomas (Stephanie) Farmer; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Morning Pointe Assisted Living Facility of Powell where Richard and Margaret had been residents for the last two years; they are awesome. We would also extend thanks to the doctors and nurses on the third floor (both ICU and regular) of Tennova North for his stay there while battling pneumonia.

Funeral services were held on Saturday 29 April 2023 at 11:30 in the morning at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 4328 E Emory Road, Knoxville, TN 37938. Receiving of friends took place after the service. Graveside service was at Lynnhurst Cemetery at 3:00 in the afternoon of the same day. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.berrylynnhurst.com for the Baker family.
