JOYCE TOWNSEND HENSLEY

Joyce Townsend Hensley, 52, of Norton, Virginia passed away Monday morning, June 12, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Juanita Townsend.

Survivors are her husband of 33 years, Mike Hensley, her daughter, Kati Hensley of the home, and her beloved fur baby, “Otis”. She is also survived by her sisters: Robin Ramey, Wanda (Fred) Williams, Shelby Hensley, and Shirley (Johnny) Hall; her brothers: Charlie (Stella) Townsend, Mark (Donna) Townsend, and Robert (Kim) Townsend, all of the Duffield area; a special daughter, Kristina Mullins, Norton, 2 special great nieces, Morgan Baker and Skylar Hill, a special great nephew, Timothy Baker, a special uncle, Paul Hensley, Big Stone Gap, VA, and a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Her funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Family and friends will gather Friday morning at the funeral home and will depart in procession at 11:00 a.m. for the Townsend Family Cemetery on Cliff Mountain in Scott County near Duffield for burial. Memorial contributions may be made directly to her family in honor of Joyce.
