HOMER WAYNE JORDAN

Homer Wayne Jordan, 83, passed away on July 26, 2023, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. He graduated from Clinch Valley College with an associate degree in mathematics. He was accepted into the School of Engineering at UVA but chose to serve in the US Army where he became an Instructor of the Nike Hawk Missile System at Fort Bliss, Texas for 3 years. He then worked at General Electric in Salem, VA as an Electronic Technician until his Retirement.

He was preceded in death by his father Samuel Clarence Jordan and his mother Beatrice James Jordan Sturgill, and his Sister Judy Sturgill Shortridge.

Surviving is his two daughters April Jordan Garrett (Husband Jim) and Autumn Jordan Huffines (Husband Jack) and his Grandchildren: Jordan Garrett (Wife Whitney), Bradley Garrett (Wife Hunter), Sophia Garrett Pelton (Husband Forrest), Jack Huffines III and Cheyenne Huffines. The Great Grandchildren are Abigail, Madison, and Carter. Also surviving are his sister Sarah (Susie) Jordan Staple and his brother Edward (Eddie) Sturgill Jr.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 2, 2023, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home 310 6th Street NW Coeburn, Va. Funeral Service will follow in the chapel with Minister Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery with Military Honors by the Virginia National Guard and Local VFW and DAV Members.
