RONNIE CALDWELL

Ronnie Caldwell, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family, following a long battle with chronic illness.

Ronnie was born in Wise County, VA on May 1, 1942. The son of the late Roy Caldwell and Ruth Steele Caldwell, he was one of seven children.

Ronnie loved the outdoors; in his younger years he would enjoy nature by going on camping trips and fishing. He was a hard worker, retiring from Carter Machinery of Norton, VA, with over thirty years of service. Ronnie cared for his family and will be missed dearly.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Caldwell, his sister, Judy Maine and beloved dog, Jasper.

Left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife of sixty years, Jettie Caldwell of the home, his three girls, Janet McCowan and husband Rocky, Rhonda Holtsclaw and husband Ronnie, Amber Kennedy and husband Donald; grandchildren, Grace Cope (Tanner), Rachel McCowan, Matthew Wood, Jacob Carty, Emily Kennedy and Dylan Phillips; four great grandchildren, four siblings, Betty Brown, Glenna Hicks, Donna Smith and Ernest (Patricia) Caldwell; “special buddy” Parker Sartin; and other close relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to his grandson and caregiver, Matthew Wood, for the loving care he always provided.

The Family plans to have a celebration of life service at a later date in Ronnie’s Memory.
