AMARYLIS CRAFT KIRK ROLEN

Amarylis (Amy) Craft Kirk Rolen, 83, on Sunday evening, February 4, 2024, quietly and peacefully passed away onto her heavenly home from the Pikeville Medical Center.

Amy was a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School, then attended Clinch Valley College and ETSU where she received her Teaching and Library Science Degrees. She touched the lives of countless children over 39 years both in the classroom and library. She taught at the Duncan Gap School while attending college to obtain her teaching degree. She was a 3rd grade teacher at Wise Primary and finished her career as a librarian at J.W. Adams in Pound, VA.

She was a cherished friend to so many and a devoted Christian and member of the Hurricane Baptist Church. She was a member of so many charitable organizations; Norton Lions Club, The Eastern Star, The Fortnightly Club and Tops. She also enjoyed and donated her time to the Friends of the Wise County Library and Book Club, Relay for Life, RAM and the Historical Society. She also met monthly with her High School Classmates whom she cherished dearly.

Amy was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Rolen; her parents, Lindsey and Lillie Craft; stepmother, Juanita Craft; brothers, Delano, Lynn and wife Debbie, Glenn and Jerry Craft; beloved sister, Freida Lane and nephew, Lamont Craft.

She is survived by special nieces, Julia Lane, Kim Kilgore, Becky Richardson, Regina Mullins, Leigh Ann Messer and Lindsey Craft; nephews, David Lane, Neal Lane and Stacy Craft; great-nieces; Abbi Rutherford, Allison Watson, Ashley Mullins, Gretchen Gurmu and Eden Lane; great-nephews, Lucas Richardson, Austin Lane, Colton Kilgore and Branson Richardson; great-great niece, Anna Rutherford and great-great nephew, Ezra Rutherford; grandson, Jacob Rolen; two special sister-in-laws, Ella Craft and Brenda Craft.

She was so much to so many people. All that knew her could depend on her for an honest opinion and sound advice. Mrs. Amy (Craft-Kirk) Rolen you are and forever will be missed.

Order of Eastern Star Services for Amy Rolen will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Jerry Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till time of services at 1:00 p.m on Saturday at Sturgill Funerall Home Wise, VA.
