ROBERT MITCHELL MULLINS
Born October 4, 1948 in Clintwood, VA; he died on March 9, 2024. At the time of his death Robert lived at 10612 Indian Creek Road, Pound, VA. Robert passed away in Pikeville Medical Center after an heroic battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Robert’s family consists of lifelong best friend, encourager, partner, and sister in Christ, Ida R. Mullins. He was the son of Dr. James Harold Mullins and Virginia Dare Osborne Mullins of Pound, VA. Robert is survived by his two children: son Shane Mullins (Kristi) and grandchildren Hannah Phillips, Abi Mullins, and Ryan Mullins (Hannah); daughter Andrea D. Mullins (Billy) and grandchildren Heath Balthis and Jacqueline Mullins; one brother James Wesley Mullins (Travis); and sister-in-law Catherine Rasnic.
Robert attended Clinch Valley College & Pikeville College. Thank you for the loyalty and love of his lifetime friends Randy Bolling and Tommy Chester; Wise County coworkers; educators; members at First Presbyterian Church of Pound; fans of the University of Tennessee; and all his golfing
buddies.
Robert retired from Wise County, VA as the Building Official & Virginia Code Official. He also served as a former elected Wise County School Board member representing Appalachia and Pound.
The Mullins family wishes to extend deep, heartfelt gratitude to so many in our generous and loving communities, especially Dr. Chris Basham.
There was a gathering of friends and family to share in the joys and passions of Robert M. Mullins at Baker Funeral Home in Pound, VA on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
