KENNETH WADE (KEN) HOLBROOK

Kenneth Wade (Ken) Holbrook, 73, Coeburn, VA passed away, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Norton Community Hospital. Ken was born in Coeburn, VA on August 16, 1950, and was the son of the late William “Bill” and Oakley Jane (Kennedy) Holbrook.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era from 1970-1971.

Ken was the love of our lives. He adored his family and especially his only daughter and his grandkids.

He had a love for hiking, fishing and walking his dogs, and anything to do with being outdoors. He also loved talking with his Veteran friends.

In addition to his parents, his brother, Dennis Holbrook preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, who was the love of his life, Teresa Ann (Pope) Holbrook; daughter, Deana Michelle Osborne, and husband, Johnny; grandson, Ryan Osborne; granddaughter, Kayla Balthis and husband, Matt; great grandchildren, Kennedy Osborne and Ellason Osborne; brother, Ed Holbrook, and his special companion, his dog “Hank”.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Estes Funeral Home. Funeral services followed with Pastor Shane Wallace officiating.

Military graveside services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, VA by the local Military Honors Team and members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team.

Ed, Matt, Ryan, Tyler, and Johnny will served pallbearers. Kennedy will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Family and friends met at Estes Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service.

The family would like to convey special thanks to the staff of Norton Community Hospital, Palliative Care of Norton, the Norton Cancer Center, the Veterans Hospital, Johnson City, TN, and Intrepid Home Health Care for their love and care of Ken.
