JAMES CLIFFORD "CLIFF" DANIELS

James Clifford “Cliff” Daniels, 81, of Roanoke, Va., died on Friday, June 7, 2024. He was the son of the late Josephine and Charlie Daniels and the husband of his wife of 54 years, Pat, who also preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son, Randy Daniels and his wife, Kimberly; daughter, Melinda Ruble; daughter, Stacey Daniels and her husband, Ray; son, Sam Daniels and his wife, Tess; eight grandchildren, Abby, Paxton, Grace, Maggie, Allie, Daniel, Sara, and Olivia, as well as four great-grandchildren, Malachi, Jaxon, Kane, and Julian. Also surviving are stepmother, Ethel Daniels; brother, Ed Daniels; brother, Fred Daniels; sister, Victoria Smith; sister, Mary Daniels; sister, Katie McDilda; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins (in excess of 175 total).

A graduate of Virginia Tech in 1966, he spent most of the rest of his life in Norton, Va., and worked at Daniels Plumbing and Heating. He served his community for more than 20 years with terms as Norton Mayor, Vice Mayor, Councilman, School Board Member, School Board Chairman, VCEDA Charter Member and was instrumental in the formation of the CNW Sewer Authority. He was the recipient of the W.P. Kanto Memorial Award for support to public education and was active in the Lions Club for 45 years. He was proud, as a Dad, that all four children obtained college degrees and have become successful in their own lives and have become good citizens.

“As each of our lives on this earth really involves only a minute amount of time, I have tried to make the most of what time I had. I think I generally succeeded in that effort.”

A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at The Farmhouse, 285 Ridinger Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
