SHIRLEY JEAN STALLARD WOOD

Shirley Jean Stallard Wood passed away August 26th, 2024 at Kilmarnock, VA. Shirley was born February 7, 1945 to Marvin and Laura Bevins Stallard in Pound, Wise County, Virginia.

After graduating from Pound High School in 1963 she moved to Alexandria, Virginia and began working for the U.S. Government. 

May 8, 1966 she married Richard (Rick) Carder Wood, II in Alexandria, Virginia. After a short stay in New York, Shirley and Rick moved back to Virginia where Shirley resumed working for the U.S. Government and Rick resumed working for Bradham Auto Ellectric.

In 1972 Shirley and Rick relocated in Orange, Virginia. They began working and eventually purchased their own business, Route 20 Market. After 27 years of owning and working this business they retired.

Shirley's life changed dramatically in 2007 when Rick, the love of her life suffered a terrible accident. Shirley devoted her life to the care and well being of Rick.

In addition to Shirley's parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Stallard and sister, Mary Jewel Stallard Greeen.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Richard Carder Wood and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
