Paramont Contura, LLC of 5703 Crutchfield Drive, Norton, Virginia 24273 is applying to the Virginia Mined Land Repurposing Program for a renewal to NPDES Permit No. 0082174, Deep Mine #25, by Application 1011638.  The site is situated in Dickenson and Wise Counties, approximately 3 miles southwest of Clintwood on Georges Fork of Russell Fork, off Routes 705 and 83.  Drainage will pass through sediment control structures and be discharged into McFall Fork and Georges Fork of the Pound River of Russell Fork.  The Pound, Virginia, and Jenkins East, Kentucky, USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle maps were used to describe the location of the permit area.  The permit area may be viewed on the Renewal Map which is attached in Section 21.2 of the application.  Additional discharge details are available in the NPDES Application attached in Section 5.15 of the application.

Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of September 20, 2024, submit written comments or objections concerning this application, and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
