PAUL GARRISON CARTER

Paul Garrison Carter, 87, of Big Stone Gap, VA, entered into rest on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
 
 He was born on February 2, 1937 in Pennington Gap, VA, a son of the late Glenn Garrison Carter and Edythe (Sprinkle) Carter. 

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Williams, Sondra Cody and Gabrielle Grace Slayton; brother, Larry Carter.

Paul was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. He was a longtime salesman in various industries including insurance and auto.

Surviving are his daughters, Sheri Denise Slayton and Chris Willis, Penny Carter Caldwell; grandchildren, Paul Jarrod Slayton and wife Kristie Slayton and Matthew Gavin Caldwell and wife Tiffani Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Landon Chase Slayton, Atlas Wells, and August Dean Caldwell; sisters, Jan Rose Barney and Glenna Sue Tomlinson; several nieces and nephews.
 
 The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Holding Funeral Home of Big Stone Gap.
 
 Military graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, September 23, 2024 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, 53 Memorial Ave, Mountain Home, TN 37684 where family and friends are welcome to gather at 9:50 am for the service. American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Post #265 will be providing the military honors for Mr. Carter.
 
 Pallbearers will be family and friends.
