Della Rebecca Hunter, 74, born and raised in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia and a current resident of Sarasota, FL. since 1990 was welcomed home by her heavenly Father unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
Rebecca was named after her grandmother Maudella and shortened to Della and an infant sister of her mother who died at childbirth.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Polly Baldwin; and James "Cricket" Hopkins. She is survived by her daughter Natysha "Tysh" Hopkins of Palmetto, FL. and fiance' Stephen Gibson, Norton, VA., Scotty Lynn Baldwin, brother of Winchester, VA.
Rebecca was a child bride and mother at the age of 16 raising a strong, determined, independent, educated daughter such as herself.
In her professional career she worked for the Commonwealth Attorney in Virginia and was a delegate at the Republican National Convention for Ronald Regan. She was currently employed as a Retail Store Manager with no immediate plans of retiring.
Rebecca also loved to travel existing of trips to Alaska, Amsterdam, Australia, Caribbean, Paris France, Rome Italy, Spain along with the Western region of the United States.
In her spare time she was an avid reader and always had a book with her she was currently reading. Rebecca will be remembered by all her knew her as a classy lady with a smile that could light up a room when entering. She will forever be in our hearts and respected by all that knew her.
A Celebration of Life was held in her honor at Robert Toale & Sons Celebration of Life Center, in Bradenton, FL and per her wishes buried next to her parents at Gray Cemetery, Norton, VA.
