COEBURN, VA- Paul David Hill, 51, was liberated from his earthly body and ran into the arms of Jesus after passing away peacefully at his home on November 27, 2024.
David is no longer shackled by the restraints of his earthly limitations and has received his glorified body through resilience, determination, knowledge, patriotism, faith and his profound love of Christ. David was born on January 22, 1973 to the late Paul and Mattie (Hamilton) Hill, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his maternal grandparents, Emmitt and Orlena Hamilton; paternal grandparents, Charles and Daisy Hill and his beloved nephew, David Shane Meade.
Survivors include his devoted sister, Paula Hill-Collins (Adrian); his treasured niece, Jaida Ariela Grace Meade and cherished great nephew, Daxton Meade Adkins, (son of the late David Shane Meade). He is also lovingly remembered by his spiritual sister, Teresa Owens Tyson and dear friend Jibber Ward along with special caregivers, Katelin Cole, Mary Moore and Kacey McCoy, whose dedication brought comfort and joy to his life.
David was a shining example of courage and perseverance, inspiring everyone around him with his unwavering determination to overcome life’s challenges. His faith was his foundation, and he found great purpose in worshiping at the Grand Avenue Church of God of Prophecy and Trinity Life Center, where he cherished his time praising and worshiping his Creator. A passionate scholar of the Bible and an avid seeker of knowledge, David’s brilliant mind and love for learning was center in his life. He also had an indelible love for his country that was at the forefront of his being fostered by his father serving in the Korean War. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a1991 Coeburn High School graduate.
He also studied and took classes at Moody Bible Institute.
In addition he was instrumental in forming the first traumatic brain injury group for the Health Wagon, using his experiences to support and uplift others facing similar struggles. He created the first denture fund at the Health Wagon selling his Jesus strong t-shirts. David’s passion for helping others and his steadfast faith made him a beacon of hope and inspiration in is community.
David’s earthly journey has come to an end, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He now rejoices in the arms of Jesus, free and whole in his glorified body. He leaves behind an incredible mark on all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted at 7:00 PM Monday December 2, 2024 at the Trinity Life Center Church, Coeburn, VA with Pastor John McCarroll and Pastor Jeff Rice officiating. The family received friends from 5:00 PM until time of services. Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at the Gouge Cemetery on Caney Ridge Road, Coeburn, VA where David will be laid to rest beside his mother.
Jody Waugh, Braden Rose, Jeff Collins, Scott Brooks, Brent Gardner and Evan Collins will serve as pallbearers. Mack and Jerry Kiser will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at Trinity Life Center Church by 10:45 AM for a final viewing and to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David’s memory to the Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group at the Health Wagon honoring his dedication to supporting others in need. A special annual Jesus Strong Award has been created in his memory that recognizes resilience in others and demonstrate that no challenge cannot be overcome with a positive spirit and tenacity to never give up as he always demonstrated.
