PATRICIA CARPENTER

Patricia Lou Abshire Carpenter, passed on March 7, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born May 15, 1932, the second of four children to Palmer and Mabel Abshire in Wise, Virginia. She is survived by five children, Dale Carpenter (Kim Traywick Carpenter), Helena Carpenter, Cherryl Carpenter Louallen (Stan Todd), Donna Carpenter Emerson (JR Emerson), and Valerie Carpenter Coslett (Frank Coslett). Pat was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Pat was married to Calvin Carpenter (deceased 2005) for 55 years. Calvin was a career Army veteran and retired from Citizens Union Bank in Lexington. Their lives together took them to Japan, Taiwan, Germany, and several US posts, mostly in the south including Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Texas where they raised their five children. During that time, they traveled to many other countries and much of the US. After retirement, they lived in Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida. Pat was a homemaker as well as retiring from First Security Bank in Lexington. She was a tireless volunteer for Hospice of the Bluegrass, Southern Acres Christian Church, Jessamine Christian Church, Tates Creek Christian Church, and the VA Hospital in Lexington.
Pat was known for being a loving and supportive wife and mother as well as being the one who looked out for all family and friends. She was the primary caregiver for her mother-in-law and her mother in their last years, as well as a beloved Aunt, Great Aunt, Cousin and Friend.
Memorial contributions may be made in Pat's honor to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Lexington Veterans Association Volunteer Services.
A memorial service in honor of Patricia will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky, 40507. Private interment will take place at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Prior to the memorial service, a visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, providing an opportunity to gather and share in remembrance. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home is honored to be in care of arrangements for Patricia L. Carpenter.
