J.W. Construction Company, Inc. of P.O. Box 2470, Wise, Virginia 24293 is applying to Virginia Mined Land Repurposing (VMLR) for a revision to Permit No. 1102281, Turkey Branch Surface Mine, by Application 1011823. The purpose of the revision is to request that Pond 7 remain as a permanent structure and also to perform a PHC analysis for Increment 2, 3 and 4. The permit area is 99.45 acres. The surface mine is located in Wise County on Turkey Branch, approximately 3 miles North of Wise off Route 640 at coordinates N 3551696 E 10298686. The Pound Virginia USGS 7.5-minute topographic quadrangle map was used to describe the permit location.

Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of March 17, 2026, submit written comments or objections concerning this application, and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
