A&G Coal Corporation is applying for bond release on Permit No. 1301992 located in Wise County 0.25 mile SW of Appalachia on Looney Creek .This permit consists of 28.42 acres bonded under Cost Estimate. As provided by 4VAC25-130-800.40 of the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Reclamation Regulations, the Applicant is requesting that the current total bond amount of $ 740,400 in the form of self-bond posted for this permit be released. This is a total permit release of 28.42 acres.
This bond release request is based on the following Phase III reclamation:
1. Implementation of the Industrial-Utilities Post Mining Land-Use
2. Completion of Reclamation Work Performed prior to 2015
3. Backfilling and regrading of the site and demolition/removal of all facility structures
4. The site is zoned light-industrial and this release will prepare it for futher development
Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of May 8, 2026 submit written comments or objections concerning this bond release, and may also request, in writing, that the Mined Land Repurposing Program hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
